Our therapists take the time to get to know each child. Our process includes a thorough assessment, so we have a good understanding of the root cause of your child's difficulty. This lets us devise a specialised program that addresses the underlying 'hidden' issue, rather than just dealing with the visible symptoms. This approach, delivered with the care and compassion of our therapists, maximises your child's potential and improves their skills.
We take the time to address all the skills that contribute to attention and concentration, including posture, visual processing, muscle tone, co-ordination, sensory and behavioural issues and work out specific strategies that will help your child.
We use strategies that will help your child develop skills they need to participate in every day living activities and achieve their goals. We have more than 20 years experience working with children on the autism spectrum. We incorporate social skills training, cognitive (thinking) skills, sensory and play skills in our regular intervention.
If your child is an especially picky eater and is unwilling to try new foods, then food therapy may be something that can help introduce new foods into their diets. For food therapy sessions, we use the SOS program for picky eaters and problem feeders. Food therapy is only currently available at our Townsville Clinic.
We are highly skilled and experienced at identifying sensory related patterns of behaviour and provide strategies to address these sensory issues. We use the Alert Program, which provides an experiential approach to teaching self regulation skills.
We help children develop their fine motor skills, pincer grip, finger strength and postural control to optimize their handwriting. Using the correct pencil grip ensures a child is not holding extra tension in their hand and fingers.
Imaginary play is very important for both social and academic development. We provide play assessments and teach play skills to children and incorporate playfulness in all of our interventions.
Handwriting is a lifelong skill that contributes to better learning and we are passionate about helping children develop competence with their handwriting. If your child has been diagnosed with dysgraphia, we can help!
We make practice fun and achievable and can identify underlying components of handwriting, developing specific programs to help your child, including: Pencil grip, posture, visual motor skills, letter formation, legibility and handwriting speed.
We look at all of the things that your child might do from waking up in the morning to going to bed at night. These activities include, toileting, eating, cleaning teeth, dressing, and domestic activities such as making the bed and cooking. Our expertise is particularly helpful with helping children develop independence with toileting.
Through communication and education, we aim to foster a partnering approach with parents. By understanding the therapeutic principles and strategies to help your child, together we can:
